Access Points (often called Action Points), referenced in-game as AP, are the experience points of Ingress. Most gameplay actions, such as deploying Resonators, destroying Links, and creating Fields, earn AP for the agent and contribute to his or her Access Level.
Actions With AP Rewards
Action | AP |
---|---|
Deploying a Resonator | 125 AP |
Capturing a Portal | 500 AP (+ AP for the first resonator) |
Deploying the eighth Resonator on a Portal | 250 AP |
Upgrading another player's Resonator | 65 AP |
Applying a Portal Mod | 125 AP |
Recharging a Portal's Resonator(s) | 10 AP per press of the 'Recharge' button |
Linking two portals | 313 AP |
Creating a Control Field Δ | 1250 AP |
Hacking an enemy Portal | 100 AP |
Destroying an enemy Resonator | 75 AP |
Destroying an enemy Link | 187 AP |
Destroying an enemy Control Field | 750 AP |
Submitting a new Portal | 1000 AP |
Submitting a Portal photo | 500 AP |
Editing a portal's Location, Name or Information | 200 AP |
Entering a correct glyph while Glyph Hacking | 50 AP + time bonus |
Redeeming a Passcode | Between 50 and 1500 AP |
Recruiting an agent | 3000 AP |
If the same in-game action qualifies for multiple AP awards, the agent will receive all of them. For example, destroying the last Resonator on a Portal which is part of a Control Field earns an agent 75 AP for destroying an enemy Resonator, 374 AP for destroying two enemy Links, and 750 AP for destroying an enemy Field, for a total of 1199 AP.
Unlike other actions, submitting a new Portal, submitting a new photo, or editing a Portal's information does not immediately reward the agent with AP. Instead, the agent receives AP when the submission is approved.
Actions Without AP Rewards
The following actions do not grant AP:
- Upgrading an agent's own Resonator
- Destroying an enemy Portal Mod
- Hacking a friendly or neutral Portal. The agent still receives AP for entering correct Glyphs.
- Using an ADA Refactor or JARVIS Virus on a portal
- Breaking Links and destroying Control Fields by using an ADA Refactor or Jarvis Virus
- Completing a Mission
