The Translator-medal recognizes Agents who have mastered Glyph Hacking.

Mechanics[]

The medal only ticks up when an Agent has correctly entered all Glyphs in a sequence. Getting a Glyph incorrect in a sequence will reward no ticks. Instead of ticking up the number of Glyphs in that sequence, it ticks up a determined quantity. Level 8 Portals will reward fifteen (15) Glyph hack points instead of five (5) points.

Portal Level Number of Glyphs Glyph Hack Points
L1 1 1
L2 2 2
L3, L4, L5 3 4
L6, L7 4 8
L8 5 15

Strategy[]

Take your time and memorize the Glyphs and sequences, time bonuses are not counted. It is all about getting the sequence correct. Once a Portal is Level 2 or higher, there is a set sequence that can be translated into a sentence. Memorizing those sequences can give an Agent an advantage, if they miss a Glyph or is uncertain what they saw, they can simply fill in the blank. Agents can also use the 'simple' Glyph to have the initial sequence roll slower, giving them a longer window of time to memorize the 'shapes' of those Glyphs. It also displays the results slower, giving the Agent more time to see the translations. On the other hand, experienced Agents can use the 'complex' Glyph to speed up the Glyph hack. This becomes useful for Agents who are riding along in a car or bus, giving them time to hack more Portals and rack up more points. Use the Drone, since Agents can practice their Glyph hacking skills at home with very little interruption. This is especially useful for Glyph hacking Level 8 Portals.
